Leafa College Slices Past San Jose State, 117-38

Quarterback Cooper Kanie passed for 231 yards, rushed for 424 yards and scored nine offencive touchdowns as Dan Harding's Leafa Spirit Gridiron team drubbed the San Jose State Spartans, 117-38, at Spartan Stadium in San Jose, Calif. Left outside linebacker Leo Tatsumi recorded seven tackles and four sacks to lead the defense while recovering a fumble for a touchdown.

Halfback Ethan Wakamatsu ran for 226 yards and two touchdowns, halfback Jackson Tatara ran for 141 yards and a score, wide receiver Dayne Tsunashi had six catches for 90 yards and a major and wideout Mitch Kihara led the blockers with 22 pancakes. Wide receiver Connor Yasaka had 11 pancakes while fullback Andrew Mitsuka added 10.

Middle linebacker Roy Hanamura led the defense in tackling with 12 tackles to go with two interceptions. Strong safety Lee Bongdal had 10 tackles and two picks, while free safety Jay Madanbashi added nine tackles and an interception. Defensive end Gary Acura had six tackles and three sacks and is currently leading all of college football in sacks with 20.0 on the year.

Leafa improve to 10-0 and return home next week to face the San Diego State Aztecs.
