Leafa Spirit Gridiron Blow Away UNLV

Dan Harding's Leafa College Spirit Gridiron team wrapped up a strong home stand with a 97-20 rout of the UNLV Rebels at Yunupingu Field in Canberra, ACT. Quarterback Cooper Kanie passed for 237 yards, ran for 346 yards and scored nine total touchdowns on offence. On defence, middle linebacker Roy Hanamura led the way with 23 tackles, five tackles for loss, a sack and three forced fumbles.

Halfback Ethan Wakamatsu ran for 293 yards and a touchdown, wideout Xavier Kim caught seven passes for 65 yards and two scores, and wideout Dayne Tsunashi ran for 106 yards and a major. Left tackle Stafford Ropati led the team in blocking with 20 pancakes while left guard Gino Fatu added 11 pancakes.

Strong safety Lee Bongdal recorded 13 taqckls and an interception. Defencive tackle Levi Iori recorded two sacks while right end Lewis Sakishima had three. Free safety Jay Madanbashi also had 13 tackles, while three other players also had a sack on defence.

Leafa improve to 6-0 and hit the road next week to face the New Mexico Lobos.
