With Authority: Leafa Spirit Down New Mexico Away

Second-year quarterback Shae Katou-Aki passes for 314 yards, ran for 515 yards and scored 12 touchdowns on offense to give Dan Harding's Leafa Spirit Gridiron a 149-3 victory over the New Mexico Lobos at University Stadium in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. Middle linebacker Rhys Miyazawa led the team defencively with 15 tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack and a forced fumble.

Halfback Jack FUkushina ran for 241 yards and a touchdown while receiving six passes for 66 yards, halfback Dana Rinaldi ran for 241 yards and seven majors, wide receiver Jarryd Kaizuka caught three passes for 73 yards and a pair of touchdown passes and wideout Jiji Petricca led the team in blocks with 28 pancakes. Kaizuka also had 13 pancakes, while tight end Max Haimura had 12.

Left end Steele Craftman paced a steady pass rush with two sacks, while strong safety and defencive captain Ray Mononobe had a pair of interceptions. Two other players on defence each had an interception, while five other players on defence each had a sack. Safety Gilles Troyard led the teach in tackles for loss with four.

Leafa improve to 7-0 and return to action next week against the Colorado State Rams at home.
